The great Boris Karloff can be seen here in his first leading role alongside Charles Laughton. The Lexicon of International Film judged: A horror comedy that is one of the great classics of the genre: a fireworks display of dramatic masterpieces. The film was also shown on television under the title The House of Horrors.
