For the first time with the longer original version* and the German theatrical version,
No Future! No one embodies the motto of punk at the end of the 1970s better than Sid Vicious, bassist of the legendary and infamous Sex Pistols and unpredictable icon of an entire movement. Drug excesses, self-harm, the breakup of the band, and increasingly violent confrontations with his girlfriend Nancy follow. At the end of this unchecked descent, Sid finds her blood-soaked corpse in the bathroom of their hotel room one morning...
SID & NANCY, directed by cult director Alex Cox (REPO MAN) with at times ecstatic staging, follows its eponymous protagonists (played by Oscar® winner Gary Oldman and Chloe Webb) from their first encounter to that fateful night in the Chelsea Hotel. The scandalous relationship and its disastrous end made headlines in the tabloid press at the time and remain the subject of numerous speculations and myths even decades later.
*The original version was not fully dubbed for the German theatrical release. Therefore, parts of the film are shown in the English language version with German subtitles.
The original version runs approximately 113 minutes. The German theatrical version runs approximately 101 minutes.
