Student Donna Keppel (Brittany Snow) has a lasting, brutal experience with her teacher Robert Fenton (Johnathon Schaech). He was obsessed with her - and after a court order forbade him from approaching the young woman, he killed her parents and brother. The madman was then locked up in a maximum security prison for mentally disturbed criminals. Even three years later, Donna has not come to terms with the traumatic experience.

But now the high school prom is on the agenda, which pushes the dark events of the past aside. Donna
and her friends Lisa (Dana Davis) and Claire (Jessica Stroup) are waiting for the night of nights in a luxury hotel. But then the question of who will be the prom queen suddenly becomes secondary when a frightening piece of news gets around: Fenton managed to escape! Soon the first prom dresses will be turning red...
