THE WORLDWIDE BLU-RAY PREMIERES OF JESS FRANCO'S BANGKOK ADVENTURES
In 1985, writer and director Jess Franco briefly stepped away from his usual horror projects to focus on a pair of adventure thrillers that blended elements of his earlier Eurospy and Fu Manchu films with his signature style and fondness for exotic locations. With limited resources for international production, cinematographer Juan Soler was sent to Thailand to capture exterior footage that would form the backdrop for two of Franco’s most unusual and rarely seen Spanish productions of the decade.
In the worldwide Blu-ray premiere of TRIP TO BANGKOK, COFFIN INCLUDED, Francoverse legend Howard Vernon stars as a stubborn British agent pursuing a mysterious cult leader.
In the worldwide disc premiere of BANGKOK, DATE WITH DEATH, Franco delivers a colorful crime adventure featuring pirates, kidnappers, and martial arts action, starring his longtime collaborator Lina Romay.
Both films have been newly scanned in 4K from their original camera negatives and include new appreciation features by Stephen Thrower, along with Parts 14 and 15 of In the Land of Franco, described by Mondo Digital as an extensive exploration of the filmmaker’s shooting locations and creative legacy.
