Cloud Atlas addresses the question of how the development lines of people in another life are resumed and their relationships are reformed: a lawyer grants shelter to a fleeing slave in the mid-19th century on his journey home from the Pacific Islands. A poor but talented composer struggles in the 1930s Britain to complete his most important work, which he calls Cloud Atlas. An unveiling journalist tries to prevent a catastrophic nuclear accident in 1973. A publisher faces his greatest success in 2012, but he is locked up in a retirement home. In 2144, a clone worker develops her own human consciousness. A goat shepherd in the post-apocalyptic world of the year 2346 fights for the survival of humanity. - The key is the realization that it is not six different stories, but only one that runs like a red thread through the centuries.
