EQUILIBRIUM tells the timeless story of a totalitarian regime where all human pleasure is forbidden and emotions are suppressed. No books, no pictures, no music—nothing is permitted under threat of death. This dark,
high-budget action thriller, set against an impressive futuristic backdrop, is a kind of "Minority Report" with other means. No idea why this spectacle, starring Christian Bale, didn't make it to local theaters, but science fiction fans shouldn't let that deter them. EQUILIBRIUM is an impressive future trip featuring the (then) new (film) fighting technique of "gunkata" (kung fu with firearms).
