This is the almost unbelievable life story of Puyi, who, at the age of two, was brought to Beijing in 1908 and crowned the new emperor. A legion of servants now attends to the godlike, but isolated, child emperor. But outside the palace walls, revolution is already raging, and the millennia-old imperial rule is drawing to a close: Puyi is THE LAST EMPEROR. The visually stunning masterpiece vividly traces his life: from his brief reign through his forced abdication and expulsion to his search for meaning as a disempowered man and his collaboration with Japan, for which he was imprisoned for many years before dying as an ordinary citizen.
