Although Bill Whitney, the son of wealthy bourgeois parents, lives in a luxury villa in Beverly Hills, attends a prestigious school where he is about to be elected head of students, and dates a pretty girl, Shauna, he actually lives a very anguished life, because he is constantly tormented by nightmares and hallucinations. His parents Jim and Nan and the psychologist who is treating him say that he is paranoid, and therefore, against his will, he is given strong doses of psychotropic drugs. But Bill suffers above all from a serious state of discomfort in the family, because he feels his father, mother and sister Jenny are hostile, or falsely affectionate. Fearing that he is the victim of an ambiguous and cruel game (and incomprehensible to him), the boy is afraid of everyone, and distrusts those around him...
