eter Houseman, professor at the genetic engineering institute at Virginia University, is researching DNA to stop the aging of human cells. Fearing he might lose his research contract and wanting to get quick results, he tests his newly developed serum on himself. After just a few hours, he no longer has control over his body. In a fit of unbridled aggression, he kills a student. He is overpowered by the police and taken to a hospital. The doctors desperately try to stop the DNA reaction - but there is no chance. Peter ages to a 100-year-old man within a few hours. Willy, Peter's assistant and friend, is the first to realize what is happening. Peter has managed to stop the aging process of the cells, and what's more, the transformation of the DNA is reversing. He mutates back to the original form of human life, a prehistoric monster. When the creature breaks out of the hospital, it leaves a bloody trail of devastation. All attempts by the police to stop the beast fail.
