Maniac (1980) LE 666 6-Disc Mediabook C - Blu-ray Region B
A serial killer is terrorizing New York: the police are unable to catch the madman, the population lives in constant fear and the press finds the "maniac" easy prey! When Frank Zito leaves his run-down apartment, his thirst for blood drives him to commit gruesome murders. Spurred on by the ghost of his dead mother, a prostitute who neglected and abused him, Frank goes on the hunt for young women. He takes out all his grief and hatred on them until he scalps them with a carpet knife to decorate his mannequins.
With "Maniac", William Lustig created one of the most controversial films of the 80s. Joe Spinell embodies the killer Frank Zito in a completely disturbing, believable and downright disgustingly authentic way. During Frank's bloodthirsty forays into New York's nightlife, the viewer looks almost directly through the eyes of the killer into the frightened eyes of his victims. This controversial cult slasher should not be missing from any horror collection!
