The Stains, a fledgling punk band comprised of three teen girls, rise, fall...and rise again in this "rock 'n roll parody."

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains

The Stains, a fledgling punk band made up of three teenage girls, rise, fall, and rise again in this rock-and-roll satire directed by music industry veteran Lou Adler (Up in Smoke).

With little keeping them in their struggling factory hometown, rebellious Corinne Burns (Diane Lane, Streets of Fire), her sister Tracy (Marin Kanter, The Loveless), and their cousin Jessica (Laura Dern, Wild at Heart) form the Stains and set out on tour with fading glam rockers the Metal Corpses and working-class English punks the Looters.

Through a mix of media attention and Corinne’s bold stage presence, the Stains quickly become an unlikely overnight sensation. But the group soon discovers that the music industry can be unforgiving, fans can be unpredictable, and fame can disappear as quickly as it arrives.

Nancy Dowd’s (Coming Home) sharp screenplay is set in the same fictional Rust Belt town featured in her earlier film Slap Shot. Though the story unfolds at a fast, cinematic pace, Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains captures many authentic truths about the music business thanks to the involvement of numerous industry insiders.

Barely released in 1982 and unavailable on home video for many years, the film eventually developed a strong cult following through late-night television broadcasts and later inspired generations of punk and alternative musicians. Newly restored from its original 35mm camera negative, Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains arrives on 4K UHD for the first time anywhere in the world.
