Frankenhooker (1990) Standard Edition Synapse - 4K UHD

A medical student sets out to recreate his decapitated fiancée by building her a new body made of Manhattan street walkers.

Frankenhooker (4K Ultra HD) brings Frank Henenlotter's outrageous cult horror-comedy to 4K Ultra HD in a stunning new Dolby Vision restoration created from the archival uncut original 35mm vault materials. When medical student Jeffrey Franken's fiancée Elizabeth is accidentally decapitated by a remote-controlled lawnmower, his grief drives him to attempt the impossible. Using questionable medical expertise and body parts harvested from Manhattan street prostitutes lured by his homemade explosive drug "Super Crack," Jeffrey reconstructs Elizabeth, only to discover that her resurrected mind has become dangerously unstable.

Combining graphic horror, outrageous comedy, and an irreverent twist on Mary Shelley's classic Frankenstein story, Frankenhooker has become one of the defining cult films of the late 1980s. James Lorinz stars alongside Patty Mullen, Penthouse Magazine's 1988 Pet of the Year, with supporting performances by Louise Lasser, Shirley Stoler, Jennifer Delora, Beverly Bonner, and horror television personality John Zacherle.

Synapse Films presents the uncut feature with a newly remastered 5.1 surround sound mix and an impressive collection of bonus features including an audio commentary with director Frank Henenlotter and make-up effects designer Gabe Bartalos, the Patty Mullen featurette A Salad That Was Once Named Elizabeth, A Stitch in Time: The Make-Up Effects of Frankenhooker, Turning Tricks: Jennifer Delora Remembers Frankenhooker, Jennifer Delora's photo scrapbook, and the original theatrical trailer.

This region-free 4K Ultra HD edition presents the complete 85-minute feature and represents the definitive home video release of one of horror's most beloved cult classics.
