In Kenya, game warden George Adamson (Bill Travers) and his wife Joy (Virginia McKenna) adopt three orphaned lion cubs. Two cubs go to a zoo, but the smallest, Elsa, stays with the couple. As Elsa grows into a full-sized lioness, the couple realizes she must be set free. They work hard to teach her wild instincts so she can live safely on her own.
